Our inaugural release took a lot to put together and making wine in small batches is a labour of love.

We want the wines to be accessible and on your table, to be able to share the Dell’uva story with you and show how the Dell’uva ethos reaches through the vineyard and into your glass.

We are just getting some new pictures of the bottles done, so we can update our shop. In the meantime, you can order by downloading the form here, or by emailing us.

Tempranillo 2014

We have five clones of Tempranillo growing at Dell'uva Wines estate vineyard that produce this exceptional food friendly wine.

Tempranillo has been grown on the Iberian Peninsula since the time of Phoenician settlements. It is often referred to as Spain's noble grape. The grape has been planted throughout the globe. Tempranillo has a relatively neutral profile so it is often blended with other varieties, such as Garnacha and Mazuelo.

Ruby red in colour with aromas of plum, tobacco and herbs.  Flavours of raspberry, cherry, clove and chocolate on the palate.  Lovely balanced tannins and a mild, smooth finish.

Barbera 2014

Barbera2Barbera is the most widely planted grape in Northern Italy, although is now widely planted all over Italy.

Long considered distinctly inferior to Nebbiolo, Barbera is growing in reputation, with some renditions challenging the best of Nebbiolo. At Dell’uva Wines our Barbera yields are regulated to produce serious renditions of this variety.

The bouquet of our Dell'uva Wines Barbera goes from red cherry and blackberry through to currant. Colour is ruby-red with fresh mulberry and pleasant spicy hints on the palate. Great structure, freshness and elegance.

Syrah 2012

SYRAHThis Syrah is made from clones imported from France, which are uniquely different to our Australian Barossa Shiraz clones. The style and flavor profile of Syrah made at Dell'uva Wines from these clones tend to be medium to full bodied and display softer tannins  and flavors of blackberry, mint and black pepper notes, as distinct from our Barossa Shiraz that is more consistently full-bodied with medium to high levels of tannins, jammier fruit and spice notes of liquorice and earthy leather.

Our Dell'uva Wines Syrah has a garnet-red colour, aromas of ripe plums and blackcurrants with a hint of French oak. Great mouth feel with plums, black fruits a hint of aniseed and soft velvety tannin finish.

Grenache 2012

Grenache Grenache was made famous by French wines, and is also called Garnacha in Spain. Grenache was one of the first varieties to be introduced to Australia in the 18th century and eventually became the country's most widely planted red wine grape variety until it was surpassed by Shiraz in the mid 1960s. Early Australian Grenache was a main component in the sweet fortified wines that were the lynchpin of the early Australian wine industry. Grenache is now becoming popular in Australia like its French counterparts as a high quality red wine. At Dell’uva Estate we grow a range of Australian Grenache clonal selections and some imported Garnacha clones from Spain. Dell’uva Wines also has access to 93 year old, dry grown, old bush vine Grenache.

Grenache exhibits slightly perfumed wild cherry aromatics, cherry red in colour with soft juicy raspberry and forest berry flavours. It has a spiced, nutmeg note on the soft finish.

Lagrein 2014

LagreinLagrein is a red wine grape variety native to the valleys of northern Italy near the border with Austria. Few things are simple in north-eastern Italy, least of all Lagrein, a red grape that can produce fresh, aromatic, highly seductive wines. When grown in cooler regions of Australia Lagrein can be highly tannic but here at Dell’uva Wines in the Western Ridge of the Barossa it produces exceptional, balanced wines.

Lagrein has a rich perfumed aroma with dark inky colour. It’s a medium to full bodied wine, rich in texture with blackberry, spice and savoury tobacco/leather/mushroom notes, and has excellent fruit integration with the French oak.

Petite Sirah 2014

Petite SirahIn the 1860’s French botanist Francois Durif identified a crossing of Shiraz (pollen) with Peloursin (parent) grape. Widely called Petite Sirah or Durif. The Petite Sirah grape forms tightly packed clusters that can be susceptible to rotting in rainy environments, making it very suitable for our dry hot growing season at Dell’uva Wines, Western Ridge Barossa. The small berries create a high skin to juice ratio, which can produce very tannic wines if the juice goes through an extended maceration period. In the presence of new oak barrels, the wine can develop an aroma of melted chocolate. If you are a fan of big red wines made from the Nebbiolo grape, such as Barolo, or Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre blends then you may find the Petite Sirah grape to your liking. This historic grape is now rarely seen in France, but is making a name for itself in America and Australia.

Petite Sirah produces dark, inky coloured wines that are relatively acidic, with firm texture and mouth feel; the bouquet has herbal and black pepper overtones, and typically offers flavours of blue fruit, black fruit, plums, and especially blueberries. Compared to Shiraz, the wine is noticeably more dark and purplish in colour, and typically rounder and fuller in the mouth, offering a brightness that Shiraz can lack. The wines are very tannic, with ageing ability that can exceed 20 years in the bottle.

Petite Sirah has aromas of plum, mulberry with dark inky purple colour. This is a big structured wine, black fruits, rich tannins. Not for the faint hearted...!

Dolcetto 2013

Dolcetto is a black wine grape variety widely grown in the northwest Italy. In Italy Dolcettos are now being made in a bigger, bolder styles resulting in more age-worthy wines. Some producers are using new and old oak to age the wines. As a result, there are various styles of Dolcetto in the market place. The better ones by far are the more modern interpretations. Here in Australia, Dolcetto is used mainly for making Rosé styles but at Dell’uva Wines we are leading the charge in making Dolcetto in this bold, modern interpretation.

Dolcetto has a fresh dark cherry, fruity bouquet and intense ruby-red colour; the palate shows delicate red fruits, a silken texture and a soft round finish. The second vintage of this we have produced, the variety continues to astound, showing elegance with a prettiness of fruit, but structure and a firm palate.

A Spanish blend of two great varieties showing mulberry, raspberry aromas with cherry red colour hue. Medium bodied wine with black cherry, strawberry and perfumed flavours with a spicy overtone. The soft fine tannins result in a wine to come back for again and again!

At home in Italy, the Sangiovese grape enjoys the long, slow summers here in the Barossa. Fine acids and tannin round out the wine, with a savoury mid-palate matching the ripe fruits.

Primitivo 2013

PrimitivoPRIMITIVO:- The earliest knowledge of this varietal is that it originated in Greece. It is not known exactly how or when this plant was transported into Italy, but the history of this grape in Italy dates back many centuries. In the 17th century, it is known that the Benedictine monks named the varietal "Primitivo" because of its precociousness (early maturity of the grape) in this zone. Primitivo is widely spread throughout the north/eastern coast of central Italy. The climate is always warm and sunny, making our Western Ridge Barossa Dell’uva Wines estate vineyard the perfect environment for growing Primitivo. See my blog :- Are ZINFANDEL and PRIMITIVO the same?

Primitivo displays rich fruity scents with peppery, spicy overtones. Colour is garnet-red with a rich palate of blackberry, black olives, chocolate and mixed spices. It finishes with soft velvety tannins, and a lingering palate. A long, slow ripening period is key, with a care to ensure the fruit sugars remain relatively low. Again - a food wine. The spice character in the wine is quite distinctive, balanced by an earthy character and a fine acid lift on the finish. This wine will evolve in the bottle over many years to come.

Graciano 2014

GracianoGraciano is a black-skinned grape variety that is rarely seen outside its home territory in northern Spain.  Graciano is one of those grape varieties that is more likely to be found on the back label than the front. It is highly prized for its intense aromatic properties, but notoriously low-yielding in the vineyard. Consequently, it is not widely planted and typically appears alongside Tempranillo and Garnacha in various interpretations of the red Spanish blends. At Dell’uva Wines we live with Graciano’s low yields, but are rewarded with the most delicious of wines.

A low-yielding grape variety, Graciano is layers of luscious dark fruits, silken tannins, and a fine, nervy acid. Persistent, velvety, and lush, our Graciano will age happily for quite some years. Concise tannin and acid, with a finely balanced oak profile and generosity of fruit have created a wine clearly expressive of site and variety.

Saperavi 2014

SaperaviSaperavi originates in Georgia (Eastern Europe) dating back thousands of years and is the most important for Georgian wine culture and produces deep red wines which are suitable for extended periods of ageing: up to 50 years. Saperavi grapes are known for their dark pink flesh and very dark skins, from which they get their name (from the Georgian საფერავი, literally "paint" or "dye"). It is a teinurier grape, containing the red anthocyanin within the grape pulp as well as the skin.

Our Dell'uva Wines Saperavi shows rich black fruits along with savoury, gamey and cloves on the nose. The colour is intense purple; its inky hues are intensely perfumed, with dark fruits, cacoa, coffee bean and anise, the oak is finely tuned to balance the intensity of the wine. Not a shy wine, this will deliver for very many years. A must have for the cellar.

We have two premium Shiraz - Sandstone, and Bremner.

Sandstone Shiraz – The fruit is hand made in open top fermenters with heading down boards, basket pressed and aged for a minimum of two years in new and re-shaved French and American Hogsheads before bottling. Wines are then bottle aged for another year before release. A wine with character and complexity with a balance of vibrant fruit, restrained alcohol and judicious oak, this is a Barossa Shiraz designed to age well, and to deliver intricate layers of savoury spice, dark berries and with a hint of cured meats. A delicate acid structure balances the oak tannin, and the resulting wine has a generous finish in a savoury and opulent style.

MontepulcianoMontepulciano is Italy's second most widely dispersed indigenous grape variety, widely planted throughout central and southern Italy.

It should not be confused with the similarly named Tuscan town named Montepulciano, wines from around that town are predominantly made from Sangiovese.

Montepulciano is well suited to our Dell’uva estate vineyard here in the Western Ridge of the Barossa as it is rarely found in northern Italy; it ripens late and can be excessively "green" if grown in cooler regions.  Montepulciano is a permitted variety in DOC wines produced in 20 of Italy's 95 provinces.

Montepulciano is full bodied with great structure and balanced tannins, inky-purple colour with blackberry aromas and rich dark berry palate with spice.  Hints of chocolate and vanilla from the French Oak, rich with plenty of character, this wine will last for years to come.

At Dell’uva Wines estate vineyard we were the first South Australia producer of Verdicchio. Depending on vinification techniques Verdicchio wines can be rich in bouquet and structure, sometimes even capable of ageing for ten years or more.

Arinto1The Arinto grape is a white grape variety, and is one of the “oldest indigenous varieties” in Portugal. Arinto is grown mainly in the regions around Libson on the central coast. The climate in this area is hot and humid, and Arinto does well with its naturally high acidity. At Dell'uva Wines Estate here in the Western Ridge of the Barossa our hot summers are a perfect match for Arinto's preferred Portuguese climate. Arinto's medium-sized bunches are very compact with small grapes. In the region directly north of Lisbon, Arinto makes up most of the blended white wines.

Aromatics of ripe pear and green melon, this wine has a soft yet zesty finish which is a great accompaniment for Asian dishes.  Arinto ages well and can take on rich peach flavour. A very exciting variety for us here in the Barossa - and the only example in Australia!

Albariño shares many of the same terpenes also found in the other aromatic varieties: Gewürztraminer, Muscat, and Riesling. Its thick skin and rot-resistant grapes are perfectly suited to the Dell’uva Wines Estate here in the Barossa.

At Dell'uva Wines our Rose of Pinot Noir is completely dry, not sweet with remaining residual sugar.
